The Brand Story

Over the last ten years, the philanthropic fundraising sector has grown to a $103 billon industry. The ever-emerging social enterprise business model propels the sector forward into the future. Entrepreneurs, change-makers and people who want to leave a legacy of compassion are launching into this space. Think Thankyou, Charity Water, Who Gives a Crap and Inspiring a Difference.

Inspiring a Difference encourages people to step outside their comfort zone, try new things and support a charity that is aligned with their personal values. Inspiring a Difference is a community founded on the values of connection, joy and inner power. It is also a brand that seeks to disrupt the philanthropic fundraising sector through soul-driven purpose.

Founded by Jodie Preiss, Inspiring a Difference is a change-making legacy project that will help people contribute to fundraising projects that make a difference in the world.

After the loss of her mother to lung cancer in 2009 a passion sparked within Jodie’s life and she was driven to fundraise for CanToo. Jodie achieved many feats from 2010 to 2016, and along the way discovered the gift of extending her comfort zone to achieve personal and human-centred goals.

Jodie completed 10 CanToo Programs, trained to run the Melbourne Marathon and raised $15,000 for the charity in a six-year period. Jodie was set to run the New York Marathon on November 7, 2016 – however a leg injury providing a momentary set back, and also gave Jodie the space for a breakthrough.

Notwithstanding the financial ‘successes’ attained, Jodie’s biggest achievement was realising that there has to be something more in the fundraising sector. A place where choice and human-centred philanthropy is combined to offer people the freedom to choose the fundraising challenges and where the money is directed.

Enter Inspiring a Difference: a brand that exists to help people cultivate inspiration within. And then look to the external world to create change through the power of challenge-centred charitable fundraising.

 

The Design Brief

Jodie sought a branding system that is cohesive, inspirational (of course!) and translates easily between digital and in-person experiences. The brand needed to cut-through, be gender neutral and demonstrate the human-centred, philanthropic business philosophy every step of the way.

 

The Project Scope

Earth & Sea Creative was commissioned to develop the brand identity and provide design direction for visual marketing.

 

The Brand Nirvana Experience

The brand identity combines inspiration, movement and power through a brush script x sans serif typeface combination and colour. Imagery that inspires, connects and encourages people to make a difference in the world will complement the logo.
